Students excel in geography comp
Geography students from Brisbane Water Secondary College Woy Woy Senior Campus demonstrated key geographical skills and knowledge in this year's Australian Geography Competition recently.
Geography teacher Mr Brent Waters said the students' results and the school's overall performance in the competition were "very encouraging".
"We have a number of student geographers at our school who performed to a very high level in the competition this year, with five students gaining high distinctions, one gaining a distinction and two achieving credits," Mr Waters said.
"The competition attracts students from all over Australia (almost 90,000 of them each year) so it's a real indicator of how well our students are doing in this important subject.
"The competition is a joint initiative of the Australian Geography Teachers' Association and the Royal Geographical Society of Queensland."
